When is Leopold 1 open?
We are open 7 days a week, from 11:45 to 20:30, with the kitchen open all day without a break. Winter closure from 16 November, reopening on Saturday 6 February 2027.
Until what time can I order?
The kitchen is open all day. Closing time, 20:30, is the moment your order has to be in the kitchen.
Where is Leopold 1?
On the seafront promenade of De Panne, Zeedijk 99, 8660 De Panne, right by the beach. The terrace looks straight out over the sea.
Is there parking nearby?
Yes. The De Panne car park is right in front of the door.
Do I need to book?
Inside it is best to book ahead, which you can do online. On the beach terrace we do not take bookings: in fine weather, come early — around noon or around 6 p.m. you will find a table most easily.
Is there a terrace with a sea view?
Yes. The beach terrace sits on the seafront promenade and looks out over the sea and the beach, with nothing in the way. In fine weather it is the finest spot in the house.
What kind of food does Leopold 1 serve?
Quality French cooking with fish and seafood, alongside seasonal suggestions and refined Thai dishes. Plus home-made ice cream, home-made pancakes and Nespresso Grand Cru coffee.
Is there a vegetarian option?
Yes, the menu has a vegetarian selection.
Is there anything for children?
Yes, the menu includes children's dishes.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are welcome, both on the terrace and indoors, as long as they do not disturb the other guests.
Is the restaurant wheelchair accessible?
There is a ramp at the front door. The toilet is reachable by wheelchair as well; it is not spacious, and there is one step of 20 centimetres.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, free Wi-Fi, indoors and on the terrace.
How can I pay?
In cash, by credit card or by debit card.
Do you have gift vouchers?
Yes, gift vouchers are available.
Can we come as a group?
You can. To safeguard the quality of our products and our service, we ask groups of six or more to choose no more than five different dishes.
How long has Leopold 1 been there?
Since 22 September 1988. Leopold 1 has been a fixture on the seafront of De Panne ever since.
Can I see the menu beforehand?
Yes, the full menu is on this website and is kept up to date by the restaurant itself, so the prices are correct.
How can I contact Leopold 1?

Can I check the weather before I come?
Yes. Two cameras show the sea and the promenade right now, and the weather page gives wind, waves and temperature for the days ahead.
